Jackson (was Curly)... ended up in an Irish pound a few weeks ago and, unclaimed, was in real danger of being put to sleep. No one wants black dogs. Well, except for us! And Jackson is SUCH a treat.  Probably a spaniel/collie x, he’s the size of a small-ish lab and between 2 and 3 years old.  His foster mum Marie in Ireland said he is “a diamond - one of the nicest dogs I have ever met.”  This is VERY high praise from Marie, who runs Dogs in Distress in Ireland, as thousands of dogs have passed through her capable hands.

Jackson arrived in the UK a couple of weeks ago now and his foster mums here rave about him too. He takes absolutely everything in his stride, is great with other dogs and really loves children - a happy,  active but uncomplicated, adaptable boy with lovely manners.

Jackson’s instinct is to chase cats (but, hey, he IS a dog...), and it’s a good job his foster mum’s rabbit is in a secure cage, but  he pretty much ignores the hens and he could certainly be trained to be a good citizen around cats +  livestock if necessary.

Jackson is bright and agile and absolutely loves to retrieve. He enjoys the company of other dogs but would also be fine as an only dog as he absolutely loves people,  He’d prefer a busy rather than quiet home and the more children the merrier  - he’ll soon knock ‘em into ball-throwing shape!  Jackson is neutered, great in the car, great on-lead, pretty good off-lead, obedient, quick to learn and fine to leave for a couple of hours - all in all, pretty much the perfect dog for someone who wants a little bit more than a couch-potato pet.

There is a minimum adoption fee of £100 for Jackson, which includes the £65 it cost to transport him to the UK from Ireland.
