Jenny... looks like a setter x, perhaps with a bit of spaniel in  there, and we think this beautiful girl  is about 18 months old. She was surrendered, in very poor condition,  by her owners to an Irish pound last month (see pix taken in the pound, below).  They said Jenny had bitten a child and so she was in terrible danger of being put to sleep.  But although poor Jenny looked like she was carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders, she didn’t seem in the least bit aggressive and so we stepped in to save her.

At first, we thought Jenny might be pregnant, but she isn’t and so she has now been spayed. She has also had a bit of a clean-up and now looks even more beautiful than she does in these pictures (yes, we’re begging her Irish carers for more recent ones!) .  Best of all, though, given her terrible start in life,  is that she is blossoming into a very sweet, affectionate girl and we feel confident that she will make a wonderful pet  given a little time and lots of TLC.

Given her supposed history, we think it is best if Jenny goes to an experienced home with no very young children.  A canine companion would be fine, though, as she gets on well with other dogs. She will also need some help with the basics - including probably house-training (she is in boarding kennels at the moment and has probably never lived inside). We would like her new home to commit to taking her to training classes to help with bonding and her confidence.  As she has probably been allowed to stray in the past, a secure garden is also important.

Jenny arrives in the UK next week. If you would like to meet her, please email info@blackretrieverx.co.uk

The cost of transporting a dog from Ireland (which we organise) is £65 in addition to a voluntary adoption fee.
