MAGGIE... is the sweetest chocolate spaniel x puppy and extremely lucky to be alive as she went down with parvovirus shortly after coming out of the pound in early December. Fortunately, it was caught early and she has made a complete recovery, although still has a bit of catching up to do. She owes her life to Dunboyne Dogs in Ireland who got her out of the pound and paid for the expensive treatment to save her.

Maggie is 21 weeks old now and still small, but we think now she’s safe and sound that she will be springer-sized when she is fully grown.

She arrived with us two weeks ago and is being fostered in Sunningdale in Berkshire where she’s keeping Cooper company - a chocolate spaniel x boy we rehomed a few months ago.  Cooper was most put-out to begin with (“What the hell is that?”), but they are now getting on famously and are happily sharing a basket.

Maggie is completely house-trained, very loving, and takes everything in her stride. She’s a calm girl although is still convalescing so may get livelier once she’s up to full fitness.

If you are interested in Maggie, please email

There is a minimum adoption fee of £180 for Maggie, which includes the cost of transporting her from Ireland.

UPDATE 22/1/11

Rehomed! We had a feeling that Maggie might be staying with her foster family.. and we were right! A big thank you to Lisa and Barry (and Cooper of course) for taking this little charmer into their hearts and home - especially as her health has been a bit up and down since she arrived. She’s in fine fettle now, though....!

We have been promised pictures...
