MAX... is a seventh-month old black colliex who was surrendered into  Dundalk pound 10 days ago after his owner was taken into care.

This boy has been well-loved and is absolutely adorable - a lovely, cuddly, youngster with a retrievery nature who desperately needs a fresh start.

Max will be arriving with us in about 10 days’ time.

More pix and info to come.

UPDATE 22/3/09

Well it didn’t take us long to find this sweet boy a home - with a fantastic family who lives very near us. But Max is not coping very well with being an only dog and so he is re-available.

Max needs another dog to boost his confidence and also to stop him getting too attached to any one person in the house.  Other than that, he’s a lovely, playful, loyal boy - a little timid, a little afraid of people when he first meets them, but with another dog around, Max is transformed  into a  happier, much more confident boy.

Max is house-trained, terrific with children and settles well at night. He’s good on a lead and except for a tendency to dash back to the car if he’s out on a walk on his own, he’s good off-lead, too.

Young Max needs a kind and patient but not too soft home where there is someone around most of the day  and which can devote a little time to bringing on this lovely youngster.  He would love training classes and he will very quickly flourish in the right environment.

UPDATE 31/3/09

Some great new pix show the fun side of Max, who loves to play retrieve games and is very good at them.  He’s also now lost his puppy/winter hair and has emerged a rather smaller, sleeker boy.  The good news, too, is that Max can also now be left for up to four hours.

Max  is neutered, vaccinated, wormed and flea-treated.  If  you are interested in this sweetie, please email info@blackretrieverx.co.uk asap.

There will be  an adoption fee of  £125 for  Max which includes the £65 it costs to transport him from Ireland.
