(added 7/7/12)
SALLY is... yep, not a retriever, but we stepped in to save her when her elderly Irish owner took her to the vet to be put to sleep. Sally’s crime? Her home had no fencing and she wandered off and herded some cattle into a corner where she stood and barked at them.
The vets, bless them, refused to do it as they thought she was lovely - after all, it wasn’t really her fault. Instead, they contacted a local rescue who pleaded with us for help after they failed to find her a home and the vets decided they had no option but to put her to sleep.
Now normally I’d have said we couldn’t take her, but I was really struck by Sally’s eyes - such an obviously bright, engaged girl. So hopefully, there’s someone out there just busting to add a lively, athletic, affectionate and smart collie/terrier x to their family!
Sally is terrific with other dogs and will play with them for hours. She’s also pretty good with cats - would like to play with them but can be persuaded to curl up on the sofa with one. She’s good on a lead and, off-lead, has pretty good recall and doesn’t wander far (although probably doesn’t need to be tempted by livestock without a bit more training!).
We think she’d be a fantastic dog for a family interested in exploring a bit of fun agility.
Sally will be arriving with us in a week or two. She is spayed, fully-vaccinated, wormed and flea-treated.
The adoption fee for Sally is £150 plus VAT (£180 in total).
