TOBY... is a sweet, active, little cuddlemonster - a two year old small collie x - no great shakes to look at, perhaps, but the perfect dog for a fun and active family with a small car...  And, bless, this little chap has had a dreadful old time of it and is in real need of a new family to call his own.

Poor Toby was taken to the vet to be put to sleep after his owner, to who he was devoted, died of cancer. The vet refused and managed to find an amazing lady who paid for his board and lodging at the vets (at considerable expense)  and there he stayed for the next five weeks, in a 5ft x 5ft cage.  Dundalk Dog Rescue heard of his plight and moved him into kennels where he had access to an outside run and the occasional walk.  Then they contacted us, feeling young Toby really deserved a second chance - even if he isn’t quite our usual fare.

Toby arrived with us two weeks ago and he’s a lovely little chap - quite busy but eager to please, very trainable (he’d be perfect for anyone wanting to try their hand at agility), very loving and small enough to jump on your lap (well, if you have quite a big lap.. He settles well, too, and doesn’t bark if left.

He’s good with children, has shown no interest in cats, but we think might chase sheep and he is very athletic so will need a secure garden. He is currently in kennels in Wiltshire so we’re hoping to find him at least a foster home asap. See his expression in the two photographs where he’s next to a girl wearing pink tracksuit bottoms? These were taken when he’d only just come into rescue and  his eyes look so much softer than in the more recent pictures - basically just confirming how desperate this boy is to be back in a home situation surrounded by people to love and be loved by.

If you are interested in Toby, either as a foster or a forever home, please email info@blackretrieverx.co.uk asap.

There will be  an adoption fee of  £125 for Toby which includes the £65 it costs to transport  him from Ireland.
