FLYN... is a purebred English setter (terrible pictures, we know...) and he was surrendered into Dundalk Dog Pound last week along with Tarka - both failed gundogs, and both about a year old.

Flyn is lively and athletic (this is a euphemism for suspected escape artist...) and  he is likely to come from Irish working stock, so will need an experienced, active home, probably in the country, with a secure garden.

He’s going to need a big commitment re training, too - but in return you get a purebred English Setter (not that we here place a premium on such things...) who has beauty AND brains... How special is that?

More info and better pix on the way.

UPDATE 14/10/08

Like almost all of the current batch in Dundalk pound, Flyn and his pal Tarka went down with kennel cough. Fortunately, these two were not as badly affected as Domino and Marcus. And the good news is that both dogs seem to have lovely temperaments.

Unfortunately, the foster home they were going to has fallen through at the last minute, so we are now desperate for someone to offer to take them when they arrive next Friday 24th.

One thing we need to assess is whether they will need to be homed together, or separately - this will depend on how reliant they are on each other.

Both dogs have now been neutered and vaccinated.

If you are interested in Flyn,  please email info@blackretrieverx.co.uk asap.

There is a minimum adoption fee of  £125 for Flyn, which includes the £65 it costs to transport  him from Ireland.
